Introduction To Roulette Odds

The first thing you need to know about roulette is that there are two different types of wheels. There is the European roulette wheel with 37 squares and the American roulette wheel with 38 squares. The European version only has one zero and the American version has two 0′s.

As you already likely know, each roulette spin is independent and the green 0 provides an edge to the casino. If you compare both the European and American versions of the game you will find that the house has a 2.7% edge on all bets in the European version. Likewise the American version has 5.26% edge on all bets (Apart from the 5 number bet which provides the house a massive 7.9% edge)

Therefore GamblingCritic.com advises players to avoid all double 0 versions of roulette and stick to the single 0 European variation. This will provide players with the greatest chance of winning in the short term against the casino. Below is a table that displays the true odds of hitting a payout compared to the payout you receive when you hit.

Gamblers Fallacy

It has come to our attention that various roulette systems try to take advantage of gamblers fallacy to convince players that it is possible to beat roulette in the long run. I can assure you that they are all scams.

For example, some systems say you should wait until a color comes up 5 times in a row before placing a bet on the opposite color. The “logic” behind this is that because a color has come up 5 times in a row it is therefore more likely that the opposite color will come up on the next spin. I can assure you that this is incorrect. Past results do not effect future results and any system that advocates doing this will not increase your odds of winning.
